Job Description

IFCHOR GALBRAITHS (Singapore) is a top-tier international shipbroking group active in the dry bulk and tanker markets, looking for a trainee shipbroker to support its shipbroking activities in Singapore.

Our Singapore-based team addresses the daily chartering needs of major commodity trading houses, shipping operators, mining companies, and shipping companies. The junior should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and gain broad experience in Panamax and Capes size shipbroking practices during the internship.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the creation and update tonnage & cargo lists;
• Voyage and time-charter calculations;
• Updating internal ships position system;
• Assist in the exchange of market information between Ifchor offices worldwide;
• Monitor market conditions and rates for the industry through all appropriate means, and keep management appraised of upcoming major contracts and outcomes of tender awards;
• Provide schedule and manage several assistants to brokers;
• Maintain records of tonnage within the company’s database;
• Assist the Ship Broker in marketing tonnage (ships) to customers/shippers/charterers, and negotiate spot/time charters to achieve maximum income for the owners.

Requirements:

• Team spirit, self-motivation, service-oriented mindset;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Fluency in English;
• Fluency in Mandarin.
