Job Description
A SOC Engineer, or Security Operations Center Engineer, is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities in an organization’s computer systems and networks. They work proactively to identify and resolve security threats, ensure system integrity, and implement security measures to protect against unauthorized access or cyberattacks.
Key responsibilities of a SOC Engineer include:
- Monitoring security alerts and conducting investigations to determine the nature and scope of threats or breaches.
- Implementing and maintaining security tools and systems, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability scanners.
- Developing and implementing incident response plans and procedures.
- Collaborating with other IT teams to ensure security measures are in place throughout the organization.
- Performing regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest security trends and technologies to proactively prevent security incidents.
